FAQ: What should we bring with us?
Because it can be a long walk bring water bottles. Also hats, sunscreen and comfortable walking shoes are important. We have numerous scenic areas so bringing a camera will allow you to capture that special moment.
Can we bring Strollers and/or pull a wagon?
Yes, strollers and small wagons are allowed. But remember, the bigger the wheels the easier it is to pull or push.
What type of shoes should we wear?
Since most the pathways are in a field consisting of both packed and loose dirt, sneakers or other sturdy shoes are best, therefore No bare feet!
Is there food to eat at the farm?
Yes, Stowe farm's Buck n’ Barbeque is well know for its pulled pork sandwiches, brisket, burgers, bbq potato's ,while having a good children's selection too. Ice cream of all flavors! Relax at the Bad Apple Saloon ,serving beer and wine, while enjoying your lunch.
What type of payments do you take?
We accept cash, or credit. We will accept a personal check as a form of payment for school group deposits. However, we cannot accept a check for the balance on the day of the event.
Do I bring my own apple-picking bag?
No, this is how we charge for apples. You purchase the size bag you desire to pick and will be charged prior to picking.
Can I bring a cooler to the farm?
No, we don’t allow coolers, bottles, or grills on the farm. Food and beverages can be purchased at the Buck'n BBQ, or Bad Apple Saloon.
Can I bring my dog?
No, unfortunately, as much as we love dogs, there are folks out there that don’t share our enthusiasm.
Do you have poison ivy?
Yes, we try our best to control poison ivy – even pulling it out with our hands. But it is almost impossible to eradicate completely. In places where we have missed it, it will be wrapped around the trunk of a tree but does not extend out to where you will be picking the apples. If you don’t climb, you shouldn’t have much to worry about.
Do you open if it’s raining?
Please call ahead before you pack the car. Depending upon how much rain, some of the events may be open, while others would need to be closed.
Do the animals bite, kick, or scratch?
Stowe farm, animals are all very friendly and enjoy interaction, however, they are animals and if provoked, will react.
Can you accommodate buses?
Yes, Staff will assist buses to the correct places. Schools with smaller children will be parked by the Kids Corral to limit the amount of walking. We have addition lots that will accommodate many buses.
Do you charge for parking?
No, parking is free.
Can you cater lunch?
Yes, the Buck n’ Barbecue is on the farm, equipped with a BBQ smoker and full kitchen. Advanced notice is required. Call us for a menu selection.
Do you offer tractor rides to the orchard?
Most of our apples tree's are within walking distance. We do have a late variety of apples in our younger orchard that does require a free wagon ride. Those dates are posted on the apple page each year when those apples are ready to be picked. We also offer tractor rides as an attraction in the Kid's Corral for a small fee.
Do you sell pre-picked apples?
Yes, you can purchase bagged apples in the country store.
Do you have bathrooms and sinks?
Yes, we have portable facilities located at the orchard along with the entrance to the Kid's Corral.
Faq about trail rides?
Yes, we offer guided trail rides. Appointment needed from April- August weekends only. September - November weekdays only also by appointment.
Are reservations required for birthday parties?
We offer two different types of parties:
1} Summer parties at the farm are $300.00 up to 10 children { food is allowed on the farm} additional children are $10.00 each. Parties are a 2 hour limit or additional fee for extra farm time. We provide the tables and the facilities. If you bring a cake, you will be required to bring your own plates, napkins, plastic ware, and any party decoration such as tablecloths.
2} Fall parties, no reservations needed { {due to Covid,please contact us we are not allowing large parties , smaller parties must have reservations}, each guest or party host pay's admission for each party member , token's are purchased for children to enjoy the activities they want. No food & beverage allowed in {except cake} 2 hour limit on parties, tables can be saved for your party if we are emailed you are coming in. We provide the table and the facilities. If you bring a cake, you will be required to bring your own plates, napkins, plastic ware, and any party decoration such as tablecloths.
Can I bring my own cake to the party?
Yes, we encourage you to bring a cake. However, we do not allow guest to bring any other food into the Kids Corral during the fall. Food from our concession stand can be ordered. Parties held during June -Aug, food can be brought in.
We provide the table and the facilities. If you bring a cake, you will be required to bring your own plates, napkins, plastic ware, and any party decoration such as tablecloths, we request no balloons due to the animals.
Do you charge for adult guests or siblings attending a birthday party?
Yes. There is a general admission fee. $3 per person during the months of Sept & October. Parties held during June- Aug, there is no admission. Please check out our Party page.
Can I rent the entire Kids Corral for a private party?
Yes, during the months of May- Aug we accept reservations for functions on week days and weekends. Accommodations for private parties Monday through Friday's only, during Sept & Oct due to our public hours on weekends.
